CANVO 50MG Tablet is indicated for:
Treatment of invasive aspergillosis.
Management of severe candidiasis, including esophageal and systemic candidiasis.
Infections caused by Scedosporium spp. and Fusarium spp., when no alternative is available.
Voriconazole is a broad-spectrum antifungal agent from the triazole group. It inhibits fungal cytochrome P450 enzymes, which are critical for ergosterol synthesis, leading to disruption of fungal cell membranes and cell death.
Loading Dose (if needed): 400 mg every 12 hours for the first 24 hours.
Maintenance Dose: 50 mg twice daily or as prescribed.
Adjust dose for specific conditions such as renal or hepatic impairment.
Take on an empty stomach, 1 hour before or after a meal.
Avoid concomitant use with drugs metabolized by CYP450 enzymes, such as rifampin, carbamazepine, and phenobarbital.
Monitor closely if used with anticoagulants, immunosuppressants, or statins.
Potential for QT prolongation when combined with other QT-prolonging agents.
Known hypersensitivity to Voriconazole or its components.
Concomitant use with drugs such as long-acting barbiturates, sirolimus, or ergot alkaloids.
Common: Visual disturbances, headache, nausea, rash.
Rare: Hepatotoxicity, arrhythmias, severe skin reactions like Stevens-Johnson syndrome.
Use only if the benefits outweigh the risks during pregnancy.
Not recommended during lactation unless deemed necessary by a physician.
Regular monitoring of liver and kidney functions is essential during treatment.
Protect skin from sunlight exposure as photosensitivity reactions may occur.
Use with caution in patients with electrolyte imbalances or cardiac conditions.
