Indications:
RECITA 10 mg is indicated for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD), generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

Pharmacology:
RECITA contains Escitalopram, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). It increases the availability of serotonin in the synaptic cleft by blocking its reuptake into the presynaptic neuron, thereby improving mood and reducing anxiety.

Dosage & Administration:

• Adults: Typically 10 mg once daily, with or without food.

• Dose may be increased to 20 mg daily depending on the response and tolerability.

• Take at the same time each day.

Interaction:
Escitalopram should not be taken with MAO inhibitors, linezolid, or pimozide. Caution with other serotonergic drugs, NSAIDs (bleeding risk), and drugs that prolong QT interval.

Contraindications:

• Known hypersensitivity to Escitalopram or any of its ingredients

• Concurrent use with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs)

• Patients with congenital long QT syndrome

Side Effects:

• Nausea, dry mouth, insomnia, fatigue

• Increased sweating, dizziness

• Sexual dysfunction

• Rare but serious: serotonin syndrome, suicidal thoughts (especially in young adults)

Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if clearly needed and if benefits outweigh potential risks. Escitalopram may pose a risk to the fetus. Excreted in breast milk—caution advised during lactation.

Precautions & Warnings:

• Monitor for worsening depression or suicidal thoughts, especially at the start of therapy

• Use cautiously in patients with liver/kidney impairment or cardiac conditions

• Avoid alcohol

• Gradual dose reduction is recommended when discontinuing
