Indications:
RECITA 10 mg is indicated for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD), generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
Pharmacology:
RECITA contains Escitalopram, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). It increases the availability of serotonin in the synaptic cleft by blocking its reuptake into the presynaptic neuron, thereby improving mood and reducing anxiety.
Dosage & Administration:
Adults: Typically 10 mg once daily, with or without food.
Dose may be increased to 20 mg daily depending on the response and tolerability.
Take at the same time each day.
Interaction:
Escitalopram should not be taken with MAO inhibitors, linezolid, or pimozide. Caution with other serotonergic drugs, NSAIDs (bleeding risk), and drugs that prolong QT interval.
Contraindications:
Known hypersensitivity to Escitalopram or any of its ingredients
Concurrent use with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs)
Patients with congenital long QT syndrome
Side Effects:
Nausea, dry mouth, insomnia, fatigue
Increased sweating, dizziness

Rare but serious: serotonin syndrome, suicidal thoughts (especially in young adults)
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if clearly needed and if benefits outweigh potential risks. Escitalopram may pose a risk to the fetus. Excreted in breast milk—caution advised during lactation.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor for worsening depression or suicidal thoughts, especially at the start of therapy
Use cautiously in patients with liver/kidney impairment or cardiac conditions
Avoid alcohol
Gradual dose reduction is recommended when discontinuing
Therapeutic Class:
Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor (SSRI)
Storage Conditions:
