GLIMICRON 80 MG is indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve glycemic control when diet and exercise alone are insufficient.
Pharmacology:
Glimepiride stimulates insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells, improving glucose utilization and reducing blood glucose levels.
Dosage:
Typical starting dose is 1 mg once daily, adjustable up to 8 mg daily based on patient response and blood sugar levels.
Administration:
Take orally once daily with breakfast or the first main meal to reduce risk of hypoglycemia.
Interaction:
May interact with other antidiabetic drugs, beta blockers, diuretics, and corticosteroids. Inform your healthcare provider of all medications you are taking.
Contraindications:
Not suitable for type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, or patients with known hypersensitivity to sulfonylureas.
Side Effects:
Possible side effects include hypoglycemia, dizziness, headache, nausea, and weight gain.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Consult your doctor for alternatives.
