Description
Olmezest AM 20/5 mg is a combination tablet containing two active ingredients: Olmesartan Medoxomil 20 mg and Amlodipine 5 mg. Manufactured by Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd., this medication is primarily used to manage hypertension (high blood pressure). Olmesartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), helps relax blood vessels by blocking the action of a hormone that causes blood vessels to constrict. Amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker, works by inhibiting calcium ion influx into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, leading to vasodilation and reduced peripheral vascular resistance. Together, these components effectively lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of cardiovascular events. Olmezest AM is typically prescribed when blood pressure is not adequately controlled with monotherapy or when a combination therapy is deemed appropriate.
