Indications:
Olmecar 20 mg Tablet is indicated for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure), either alone or in combination with other antihypertensive agents. It helps to reduce the risk of strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems.

Pharmacology:
Olmesartan Medoxomil is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). It inhibits the vasoconstrictive effects of angiotensin II by selectively blocking its binding to the AT1 receptor in vascular smooth muscle, thus reducing blood pressure.

Dosage:
Adults: The usual starting dose is 20 mg once daily. Dose may be adjusted to 40 mg if necessary. Dose should be individualized based on blood pressure response.

Administration:
Should be taken orally with or without food. It should be taken at the same time each day for consistent blood pressure control.

Interaction:
Caution is advised when used with potassium supplements, NSAIDs, lithium, or other antihypertensive drugs. Concomitant use with aliskiren in diabetic patients is not recommended.

Contraindications:
Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Olmesartan or any component of the product. Also contraindicated during pregnancy and in patients with bilateral renal artery stenosis.

Side Effects:
Common side effects include dizziness, headache, fatigue, and gastrointestinal discomfort. Rare but serious effects include kidney dysfunction and hyperkalemia.

Pregnancy & Lactation:
Olmesartan should not be used during pregnancy as it may cause injury or death to the developing fetus. Use during lactation is not recommended.

Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor blood pressure regularly. Use cautiously in patients with renal impairment, heart failure, or volume depletion. Avoid use in pregnancy. Periodic kidney function monitoring is advised.
